Lois Elaine Smith

Born December 5, 1939, Lois Elaine Anthony made her entrance to life in Grand Forks, North Dakota surrounded by her parents, Marvel Oreen and Moran Lawrence Anthony and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and her grandparents, Joseph & Zahai Anthony and Oscar and Minnie Peterson

She shares her birthday with Walt Disney, a name known around the world

Lois grew up in Minneapolis, graduating from Columbia Heights high school in 1957.

She has lived in Minneapolis, Columbia Heights, Fridley, and Longville, Minnesota. She has also lived in Lakeland, FL, Asheville, Burnsville and Spruce Pine, NC.

Lois was a smart, compassionate, funny and caring person. While working, she was a professional person who held many employees and coworkers in high regard and in return, they respected & adored her.

Lois was a youthful mother to her kids, though when she needed to be the breadwinner, she excelled at creating relationships and a familial environment with whom she worked.

Lois was pre-deceased by her parents, Marvel and Moran, husbands, W Waine Beckley, George A Polo, and Robert Smith; daughter, Demita J Swankier & husband, John Swankier, and Grandson, Andrew Swankier.

Survivors are children, Tammi Beckley and George R Polo & wife, Briteny Polo. Grandchildren Anthony, Ashley & Angela Swankier and Kinzlee, Lincoln & Hudson Polo.

She will be missed by all, including extended family members and long standing friends. She passed in Asheville, NC on January 30, 2026.
