Phyllis Ann White Long, 76, of Marion, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2026 at her residence.
A native of McDowell County, she was born on November 10, 1949 to the late Arnold White and Ruby Lawing White. She was also preceded in death by a step-grandchild, Collin Beam, and a step-great-grandchild, Eli.
Phyllis attended Redeemed Free Will Baptist Church. She loved the Lord, her family, and her church. She had a sweet disposition about her that led all who met her to love her. Phyllis was a very selfless person, and this was reflected in her career with the Department of Social Services where she worked for a number of years. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband, Van Hoyle Long; her daughter, Stacey Jones; step-children, Aletha Duncan, Tonya Long, Mark Long, and Jonathan Long; two grandchildren, Taylor Patterson (Matt) and Joshua Jones; step-grandchildren, Ashley Pallares, Elijah Long, Morgan Duncan, and Maddy Duncan; great-grandchild, Hylee; step-great-grandchild, Annie; two sisters, Rita Christopher and Lynn Franklin (Dennis); and one brother, Mike White (Revonda).
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 6, 2026 from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Jerry McClain officiating. Interment will be held privately at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
