Cynthia Diane Simmons, 57, of Old Fort, passed away at McDowell Hospital in Marion on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
Cindy was born in McDowell County on January 17, 1969 to Thomas Franklin Simmons and Elva Turbyfill Simmons. She was preceded in death by an infant brother.
She was a member of Cherry Springs Baptist Church. Cindy loved animals especially cats and dogs. Some of her favorite things to do was going out to eat and doing home crafts and working puzzles. Cindy never forgot anyone and always had a smile on her face.
Those left to cherish her memory are her parents, Tom and Elva Simmons along with numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.
A funeral service will take place at Cherry Springs Baptist Church on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at 3:00 pm with the Rev Marty Conner and Rev. Dustin Duncan officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 at the church. A private family burial will follow at the Simmons Family Cemetery
