Effie Anne Cable Petersen

Effie Anne Cable Petersen, 89, of Marion, passed away at Amorem Hospice in Valdese on Saturday, July 25, 2026.

She was born in Wyoming County, West Virginia on June 9, 1937 to the late John Francis Cable and Velva Farley Cable.

Effie retired from Baxter Healthcare. She loved the Lord and attended Bethel Baptist Church when her health allowed. She enjoyed her time with her family and close friends. She also loved her special canine companions. Effie will always be remembered as a very caring person who will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Venzil Petersen, her son, Mitchell Andrew “Andy” Petersen, and several siblings.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Roper; four grandchildren, Chris Roper, Mitchell Roper, Jennifer Petersen, and Mark Nolte; a great-grandchild, Braxton; and one sister, Faye Cable.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 12:00 noon at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
