Ronald Vinson Engle

Ronald Vinson Engle, 81, of Morganton, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2026 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills surrounded by his daughters.

He was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania on January 23, 1945 to the late Lloyd Vinson Engle and Ruth Probst Engle.

Ron worked for many years in the tool and dye industry, most notably at Leviton, formerly Southern Devices, and American Roller Bearing. He later was the owner of one of the largest bail bonds companies in North Carolina, Engle Bail Bonds. Ron was a passionate fan of racing of all kinds including cars and motorcycles. He was also a fan of bluegrass music.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Daphney “Jean” Engle.

He is survived by two children, Ronda Patton (Jim) and Diane Engle-Cole; two step-children, Kelley Beam and Elisha Pruitt; six grandchildren, Jessi Engle, Rebekah Wright (Aaron), Lacey Kelley (Dustin), Katelin Willis (Josh), Michael Kelley (Kellie), and Genna Martin (Isaac); ten great-grandchildren, Miles, JJ, Faithlyn, Gracelyn, Jaxson, Dallas, Jimmy, Hadley, Jameson, and Bode; and his faithful canine companion, Douglas.

A private memorial service will be held.
