George Jules Edwin Pelsmaeker

George Jules “Edd” Pelsmaeker ,79, of Marion passed away at his residence on Monday, July 27, 2026.

George was born in Botavia Indonesia on March 21, 1947 to the late Frans Mavrits Pelsmaeker and Geertruida Lemmens Pelsmaeker.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. George retired from Appalachian State University as a physical education teacher where he taught scuba diving. He like to go snow skiing in the winter and was known for wonderful sense of humor. He loved animals including his pet snakes. George never met a stranger and will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Katie Pesmaeker Gravitt and her husband, Brett: his two grandchildren, Owen and Tatum Gravitt and his niece Sydney Clark.

A memorial Service will be held at a later date at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Marion
