Sandra Kay Sasser Setzer

Sandra Kay Sasser Setzer, 81, of Marion, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, July 25, 2026.

A native of Kinston, North Carolina, she was born on January 24, 1945 to the late Paul Sasser and Stella Humphrey Sasser.

Sandra retired from McDowell County Schools. She was a longtime member of Providence Church where she was instrumental in various ministries, particularly the choir of which she directed beginning in 1978. Sandra was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend whose life was defined by love and unwavering faith. She found great joy in spending time with her family, nurturing her garden, and caring for the animals she loved so dearly. With a servant’s heart, Sandra was always ready to lend a helping hand. She lived her life as a reflection of her deep love for Jesus. Her legacy of service, grace and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David LeRoy Setzer; her son, Shane Durant Setzer; and one brother, Bobby Sasser.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Stella Adcock (Tab); her granddaughter, Shana Adcock; one brother, Preston Sasser; and one sister, Martha Revis along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 1, 2026 from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Providence Church. A memorial service officiated by Pastor Matt Mills will follow at 3:00 p.m.
