Ronald Louis Tate, 72, of Nebo, North Carolina, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
He was born in McDowell County on December 20, 1948 to the late James Millard Tate and Christine Corpening Tate.
Mr. Tate served first in the United States Marine Corps and later in the United States Army, where he retired after 23 years of faithful service as a Master Sergeant. He later served 20 years with the North Carolina Department of Corrections where he retired as a Lieutenant, but he was a true businessman at heart. A member of St. John AME Church, Ronald truly loved his family and will be remembered as being a leader who had a strong work ethic. He was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for fishing. An amazing father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, Ronald was a hero to many.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Melvin Tate, Harold Tate, and Eugene Tate.
Those left to cherish his precious memories are his three children, Chandra R. Tate, Travis Tate, and Omar Tate; nine grandchildren, Michael Brown, Keshawn Tate, Marquinis Tate, Tatiana Tate, Alana Tate, Alyna Lee, Christian Lee, Mya Lee, Elias Brown; two great grandchildren, Mehki Brown and Winter Tate; three siblings, Sam Tate, Minnie Tate, and Nathaniel Tate and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
A celebration of Mr. Tate’s life will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021 in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service & Crematory at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Latisha Williams officiating. Full military honors will be rendered by the United States Army along with honors provided by the North Carolina Department of Public Safety-Adult Corrections. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
