William Terrell Smith, 80, of Marion, passed away Friday, July 17, 2026 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.
He was born in Mitchell County on December 27, 1945 to the late Terrell Columbus Smith and Mae Buchanan Smith. He worked in textiles for most of his life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William Christopher Smith, and three sisters, Linda Louise Smith, Donna Brinkley, and Shirley Ann Smith.
He is survived by one brother, Harold Dean Smith; two sisters, Darlene Lane and Sue Lackey; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 1, 2026 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Beam Funeral Service. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
