William Eugene Surratt

William Eugene Surratt, 74, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Atrium Health Pineville.

He was born on October 14, 1948 to the late William Earl Surratt and Nelle Woody Surratt. He is also preceded in death by his spouse, Josie Rockett; siblings, Barbara Hefner, Patsy Hutchins, and Jack Surratt; and a nephew, Chuck Surratt.

One of Bill's greatest passions in life was fishing. Whenever his health allowed, he would spend several days a week indulging in this favorite pastime. Bill's love for fishing extended beyond his local waters as he frequently traveled to various locations to cast his line in different settings. His family and friends meant the most to him, and he always expressed concern for their well-being.

He is survived by two children, Billy Surratt (Rachel) and Angie Smith (Tim); grandchildren, Meghan Strong, Rebekah Armantrout, and Gabrielle Smith; two great grandchildren, Macie Jay Strong and Jayden Strong; and his half-siblings, Joseph Surratt, Gail Robinson, and Amy Lee.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Beam Funeral Service on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m.
