William Thomas Ross

On the evening of Sunday, December 5, 2021, William Thomas Ross passed away at Memorial Campus with his loved ones by his side. He was born on August 25, 1937 in Whitney, South Carolina to the late Clyde and Rubenia Smith Ross.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Marietta Norman Ross; infant son, William Thomas Ross, Jr.; daughter, Debbie Ross Wilson; and two sisters, Kaye Francis Ross and Sarah Jane Ross Bradley.

Tom was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church, a United States Air Force veteran and was an avid golfer. He enjoyed participating in the Senior Games, in which he won many gold medals. He was a huge Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Hornets and Atlanta Braves fan, where he held season tickets. Tom was an independent owner and agent with State Farm Insurance for over twenty-eight years. He mostly enjoyed spending time with family and friends especially his grandchildren. He was a family man and truly loved his wife, Marietta.

Left to cherish his memories are two children, Kim Ross Poteat (Todd) and Melissa Ross Davis (Tony); one brother, Lanny Ross (Peggy); eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Glenwood Baptist Church with Reverend Stanley Taylor and Dr. Dennis Love. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., two hours prior to the service at the church. Interment with military honors will follow the service at McDowell Memorial Park.

Oh Bill Ross, I surely will miss you we have been friends since we were 13 years old. I can remember just like it was yesterday. You were a good man to anyone who knew you and were cherished by many. I will see you again my friend. And to the family may the lord bless and keep in in this time.
