William Roy Martin, of Old Fort, North Carolina, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on April 30, 2026, at the age of 81.
Roy was born in Habersham County GA on April 25, 1945 to the late James Ollie Martin and Pearly Mae Martin. He was also preceded in death by his brother James “Bud” Martin, 4 sisters Nell Thompson, Mozelle Toney, Elwena Hogan, Christina Martin, and daughter in law Andrea Dawn Martin.
Roy lived a life defined by dedication to his faith and family, strong values, and a quiet strength that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He was a devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, always placing the needs of others before his own. Roy enjoyed spending his time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, reading his Bible, and playing the guitar. He was both an excellent golfer and skilled carpenter.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Martin, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage and cherished memories. He also leaves behind his children: William Scott Martin (Karen), Susan Martin Taylor (Curtis), Lisa Martin Radford (David), and Wesley Martin (Shasta); eight grandchildren, Amanda Jones (Brian), Joshua Radford (Heather), Jacob Hicks (Amber), Brittany Martin, Sarah Coursey (Steven), Tyler Martin, Raegan Martin, and Layla Martin; eleven great grandchildren, Jay, Johnny, Jaxson, Addison, Brennon, Cooper, Carleigh, Gracie, Mason, Baylee, Makala; a brother James “Ralph”Martin, and sister Marzelle Hudgins.
Roy leaves a legacy of unwavering trust in God, steady presence, his humble wisdom, and the deep care he showed to those around him. His family and friends will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
A celebration of life for Roy Martin will be on Monday, May 4, 2026 at 12:00 noon in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with the Rev’s. Jerry McClain and Josh Radford officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in the Glenwood Independent Baptist Church Cemetery.
