William "Mark" Vess

William “Mark” Vess, age 54, of Old Fort, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, April 06, 2021 at Mission Hospital-McDowell.  The son of Charlette M. Greer of Old Fort, North Carolina and his step-father, the late John R. Greer, Mark was born in McDowell County, North Carolina on October 08, 1966.

Mark loved fishing and camping with his family and friends.  He also enjoyed muscle cars and working on cars. 

He is survived by, in addition to his mother, longtime loving companion and fiancée, Barbara Leonard; four sons, Allen Scott Vess (Juli), Christopher Vess, John Hodges (Leslie) and Shane Hodges (Laura); one brother, Matthew Harvey Vess (Kathleen); one sister, Debra Vess Wells (Mickey); and eight grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held.
