William Edward Long, Sr.

     William Edward Long, Sr., 84, of Marion, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Autumn Care of Marion.

     Mr. Long was born in McDowell County, NC on January 2, 1938 to the late Jerome and Irene Carson Long. He was married to the late Harriet Fields Long. He attended Addies Chapel United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. Mr. Long enjoyed helping others and was known for his sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.

     In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Long was preceded in death by a son, John G. Long; and a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Long.

     He is survived by a son, William E. Long, Jr. (Roberta); six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

     A going home celebration will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, December 2, 2022, at the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Rev. Mary Scott will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
