William Eugene Dennie

     William Eugene “Gene” Dennie, age 60, of Marion, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, May 28, 2023, at Mission McDowell Hospital in Marion.

     Gene was born and raised in the North Cove Community by the late Eugene and Susie Dennie; and his birth mother, Nancy Sue Carpenter. Gene worked for the state and retired after many years of dedicated service as a correctional officer with the Department of Public Safety, Adult Corrections facilities. He loved to fish and remanence with the “old folks” about old times. He loved telling jokes and making people laugh. He loved his family and spending time with them. He loved the great outdoors and taking long walks and 4-wheeling. Gene was an old soul who will be greatly missed.

     Gene is survived by his wife of 18 years, Sharon Dennie; his son, Josh Dennie; step-children, Bryan Roberts (Michelle), Matthew Roberts (Tina), and Lori Trout (David); nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; his sister, Kathy Holder; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special family friend, Margaret Love.

     A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 8, 2023, at the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Steve Durham will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
