Warren Ray Kluttz

October 29, 1930 — March 1, 2022

Nebo, North Carolina

Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Warren Ray Kluttz, age 91, went to be with his Lord on March 1, 2022, after an extended chronic illness.

Born in Salisbury, NC, in 1930 to Arthur and Mary Kluttz, Warren was first employed by Southern Railway as a machinist. He went on to become a master of his trade employed in maintenance as an industrial mechanic to start up industries including DuPont in Florence, SC, Republic Foil in Salisbury, NC and Miller Brewing Company in Eden, NC. A supervisor once said, "Warren was not just a mechanic, he was a master craftsman. "

And so it was with his spare time.  Warren became a builder, not only of a family with the love of his life, Delette, but also of his family homes in Salisbury, Reidsville and Nebo, NC.  There was nothing he could not fix or build with his creative mind and hands.

At heart, Warren was always a quiet and simple man who loved his family and his Lord.  Always of the Methodist denomination, he previously taught the Young Adult Sunday School Class.  Most recently he was a member of Nebo United Methodist Church where he assisted with church maintenance.  He rarely raised his voice, was kind to all, and avoided conflict. He never craved recognition and believed that the fruits of his labor spoke for themselves. Even after a stroke robbed him of many verbal abilities, he remained keenly interested in the lives of his children and grandchildren, and still managed witty one liners with a sense of humor retained throughout his life. Warren touched the lives of many and was loved by all for his gentle nature; his life was an abject lesson in what's most important in life.

Warren was intensely loved by his family, and the light of his daughters' and grandsons' lives. We will miss him terribly, but take comfort in knowing that he is finally free from pain and suffering and watching over his loving family from his favorite recliner in heaven. Perhaps he'll even take up flounder gigging again at his treasured Oak Island.

Warren was preceded in death by his mother and father, Arthur and Mary Kluttz, and his sister, Carol Dunnagan.  He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Delette Ridenhour Kluttz; his sister Doris Blanchard; his four daughters, Kathy Cloer (David), Terri Francis (Murphy), Jill Meade (Todd), and Patti Watson (Jim); two grandsons, David Cloer, Jr. and Sean Meade (Jessica); and seven nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at Nebo United Methodist Church in Nebo, NC on Sunday, March 6 at 1:00 pm.  Private interment will follow on Monday, March 7 at Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury, NC, at 11:00.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Nebo United Methodist Church Budget, 117 Nebo School Rd., Nebo, NC 28761.
