Wanda Louise McBee Johnston

Wanda Louise McBee Johnston, 75, of Nebo, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023 at her home with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Mitchell County on February 15, 1948 to the late Frank McBee and Mary Jane Riddle McBee. She is also preceded in death by her loving husband, George Johnston.

Wanda worked her entire career as a registered nurse. She was an excellent caregiver and had worked at the Brian Center in Spruce Pine for many years. She loved flowers and gardening as well as going to garage sales. She was also a great dancer and a music lover. Wanda truly had a loving and caring soul. She was affectionately known as “Lolly” to many.

She is survived by her daughter, Holly Redeagle; and four siblings, Iris Jane McBee, Sandy McBee Cooper, Frank “Buck” McBee, and Ike McBee; several nieces and nephews and her beloved dogs, Shadow and Castiel.

In accordance with her wishes, no services will be held.
