Virginia "Peepsie" Mae Buckland

On the evening of Friday, January 17, 2020, Virginia “Peepsie” Grimmett Buckland, age 79, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior. Virginia was born on June 19, 1940 to the late Perry and Nellie Sims Grimmett.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Hobart Buckland who passed away on January 24, 2019.

Virginia attended Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church. She was a loving homemaker who enjoyed cooking for her family and friends for special occasions. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. Virginia also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memories are five children, Dan Buckland (Anne), Doug Buckland (Laura), Steven Buckland (Jeanne), Sharon Blanton (Michael) and Valarie McKee (Brian); two brothers, Melvin Grimmett (Joyce) and Travis Grimmett. Also surviving Virginia are eight grandchildren, Spencer, Macy, Garrett, Nicole, Micah, Brady, Tara and Travis and a number of step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church in Morganton with Reverend Chris Uren officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church Cemetery.
