Vera Bailey Stroupe, 91, of Old Fort, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
A native of Buncombe County, she was born October 31, 1931 to the late Walter Herman Bailey and Ocie Mae Corn Bailey.
Vera spent her life caring for others. She took care of countless babies over the years and was known as “Granny” to all. She was a strong and faithful servant of God who loved her Bible. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Samuel Stroupe; son, Rudy Stroupe; a daughter, Connie Hurt and son-in-law, Ronnie Hurt, Sr.; three siblings, Charles David Bailey, Doris Bailey Reed, and Homer Calvin Bailey; and a niece, Teresa Reed Bailey.
