On the morning of Wednesday, September 27, 2023, Vera Omega Jaynes Swift, 96, of Marion, left her earthly home to enter her heavenly home to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior.
Omega was born on December 30, 1926 to the late Clayton Jaynes and the late Vera Ledbetter Jaynes. She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Kay Edwards (Jimmy) and her brother Bill Jaynes.
Omega known as a very devout Christian loved attending the Nealsville Church of God. She Graduated from Appalachian State University with a bachelor’s degree in 1951. She retired as an elementary school teacher. Following her retirement, she worked for 13 more years Baxter Healthcare and retired again. Omega enjoyed crafting and painting but mostly reading her bible and talking about the Lord. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister and will be missed greatly.
Those left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Erma Staton (Steve); two sisters, Joanne Helms and Sylva Secrest; four grandchildren, Crystal Edwards, Chrissy Burton, Aaron Edwards and Avery Staton along with six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Beam Funeral Service on Sunday, October 1st, 2023 at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Doug Carpenter officiating. Receiving of friends will take place from 2:00 until 3:00 at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Independent Baptist Cemetery.
