At the request of the prayer of our Lord Jesus in John 17:24: “Father I will that they also whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am, that they may behold my glory which thou hast given me, for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world,” our precious mother was called home on November 24, 2024.
Una Ward Burleson was born May 23, 1926 in Mitchell County, and she was the daughter of the late Joe and Esta Buchanan Ward. She was the loving wife of the late Fleming Burleson who died July 10, 1986. She was also preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by four children, Ken Burleson (Judy), Sharon Hardin (Danny), Bill Burleson (Diania), and Karen Burleson; three grandchildren, Brit Burleson (Janie), Jennifer Hardin, and Robert Hardin (Yvonne); three great-grandchildren, Scarlett Hardin, TyAnn Hardin, and Olivia Hardin; a loving sister-in-law, Glenda Ward; special friends, Kaye Frazier and Martha McMahan; her church family; and many nieces and nephews.
She was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church and faithfully attended until her health no longer permitted it. Mother and dad had a sense of humor and our home was filled with laughter. She spent many hours studying her Bible, thanking her Great Creator for so great a salvation, and praying for others that they too would come to know her Great God and Savior. She retired from Kearfott where she was a mentor to many young girls about her Savior. She was a loving mother and will be greatly missed.
We are thankful for the love and many prayers for our family. Many thanks to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills who cared for our mother.
