Travis Gunter

Travis Gunter, 79, of Old Fort, North Carolina, passed away Friday, March 04, 2022 at his daughter’s residence.

He was born in Madison County on October 11, 1942 to the late Manassie and Carrie Banks Gunter.

Travis enjoyed being in the outdoors, especially cattle farming. He worked as a mechanic. He enjoyed dog day on Sundays with his grandson. Travis was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Helen Mae Bartlett Gunter; a son, Travis Kevin Gunter; a granddaughter, Julia Gunter; and a sister, Geneva Kent.

He is survived by three children, Gwen Evans (James), Dwayne Gunter (Cristie), and Kerri Autrey (Ryan); four grandchildren, Kaitlyn Arant (Dustin), Jacob Evans, Manassie Gunter, and Christian Mull (David); three great grandchildren, Kahlea Arant, Rylan Guffey, and Scarlet Mull; and one brother, Clarence Gunter (Jerlaine).

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with his son, Rev. Dwayne Gunter officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Community Cemetery.
