Tony Lee Lawson, 67, of Old Fort, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.

A native of McDowell County, he was born on November 29, 1957 to Rena Carr Hall and the late William Lee “Bill” Lawson.

Tony was employed with Morganton Pressure Vessels for over twenty years. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. Tony was an avid outdoorsman and a fan of country music. He enjoyed cooking, and will be remembered by his family as the “grill master.” He always put his family first and took care of them. Tony had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved his Ford truck which he put lots of time and effort in to its restoration.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mack Carr, who helped raise him, and Iola Carr; and a brother-in-law, Mark Tilson.

In addition to his mother, Rena Carr Hall, he is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sandy Cable Lawson; daughter, Brandy Lawson Riddle (Scott); two grandchildren, Garrett Riddle and Shandy Riddle; siblings, Renee Tilson and Scott Lawson (Becky); special aunt, Frankie Lytle; cousins, Ricky Lytle and Kevin Lytle; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Mike and Leona Kelly; and his feline companions, Travis and Peggy.

Services will be private for the family. Burial will be in Bethlehem Community Cemetery.
