On Friday, May 2, 2025, the world lost one of the most generous and selfless men that was ever born. He always put others needs in front of his own, making sure everyone was taken care of (even if he was always late). His happy place was operating construction equipment.
Timothy Kevin Washburn, born on July 26, 1960 to the late Onan Ervin Washburn and the late Shirley Boyd Washburn, left us unexpectedly on Friday, May 2, 2025 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. His passing has left a void in so many people’s lives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hesby and Bessie Washburn of Spruce Pine and Everett and Jessie Boyd of Marion, and his oldest sister, Valorie Washburn Hall.
Those left to grieve his absence and cherish his memory are his former wife and close friend, Kathy Harris; son, Tyler Washburn; brother, Joe Ervin Washburn, Sr.; sister, Penny Wood (Rick); special friend and caregiver, Sam Bartlett; four nephews and five nieces; and multiple friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Beam Celebration Center. A private burial service will be held at the Washburn Family Cemetery.
