Thomas Andrew Carl Hall, 74, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, after a courageous struggle with ALS.
Thom was preceded in death by his wife, Melinda Hall of Myrtle Beach, SC, and by his parents, William Carl Hall and Helen Phillips Hall of Marion, NC.
He is survived by his three daughters: Heather Hall of Iron Station, NC; Sarah Hall Armstrong (Adam) of Greer, SC; and Leah Hall Brabham (Kevin) of Spartanburg, SC. Thom was a grandfather of four grandchildren—Ben Armstrong, CeCe Armstrong, Yates Brabham and Turner Brabham.
He is also survived by his brother, William Hall (Beverly) of Rutherfordton, NC; his sister, Jane McCall of Spindale, NC; his significant other, Kathy Causby of Morganton, NC; as well as several nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends whose lives were brightened by his presence.
A graduate of Marion High School, Thom served honorably in the U.S. Army before earning his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Appalachian State University. Over the years, he held a variety of professional roles, including positions in human resources, corporate sales, and criminal justice. His versatility, work ethic, and ability to connect with others were hallmarks of his career.
Thom was known for his quick wit, playful teasing, and warm sense of humor. He loved spending time on the golf course, boating on the water, and caring for the animals he cherished. Above all, his greatest joy in life was his children, in whom he felt boundless pride.
Thom’s faith was the foundation of his life. He shared it openly and joyfully, teaching Sunday School and serving as chaplain for the DVA. His compassion, kindness, and steadfast belief touched countless lives.
Thom will be remembered for his laughter, his generosity, his unwavering faith, and the deep love he held for his family and friends.
The family will receive friends at Mount Home Baptist Church, Morganton, NC, Saturday, January 3, at 1:00 PM with a memorial service following at 2:00 PM. Burial will take place at 4:00 PM at Oak Grove Cemetery, Marion, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks any memorial be made to the Building Fund Mount Home Baptist Church or CureBatten.org, the Charlotte and Gwyneth Gray Foundation. Beam Funeral Home, Marion, NC is in charge of the arrangements.
