Thelma Faye Simmons Loftis, 93, of Burnsville, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2024, at the Yancey House.
Thelma was born in McDowell County, NC on February 23, 1930, to the late Adrian F. Simmons and Clela Kates Simmons. She was married to the late Archie Loftis and was a member of Browns Creek Baptist Church in Burnsville. Thelma loved to travel and had a green thumb. She loved flowers and shopping, but most of all, she loved the Lord and her family. Thelma was a loving mother and a wonderful Nana who will be greatly missed.
In addition to her husband and parents, Thelma was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Simmons.
Those left to cherish her memory include two children, Richard Loftis (Barbara) and Michael Loftis (Carol); two sisters, Genevieve Harrison and Sue Marsh (Jim); four brothers, Bob Simmons (Jean), Jim Simmons, Tom Simmons (Elva), and William Simmons; a granddaughter, Kim Nova (Chris); and special friends, Roscoe & Mary Hudgins, and Jerry & Christine Wall.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Browns Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Marcia Huskins, 880 Rolling Ridge Loop, Burnsville, NC 28714. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of the memory care unit at the Yancey House for the care they provided.
