Thelma Dorothy Battee Doran

Thelma Dorothy Battee Doran, 91, of Banner Elk, North Carolina, passed away Monday evening, April 17, 2023 at the Heritage of Sugar Mountain.

A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Thelma was born April 7, 1932 to the late Robert Roy Battee and Emma Kline Battee.

Thelma worked most of her life as an office manager in dentist offices. She enjoyed hiking and did so even into her eighties. Thelma was a very religious woman who was of the Pentecostal faith. She was also an ordained minister.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Doran.

She is survived by her three sons, David Cayton (Anna), Mark Cayton, and Paul Cayton (Tammy); sister, Betty Devine; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Burial will be private at Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery in Marion.
