Old Fort

Terry Elizabeth King Silver, 80, of Old Fort, North Carolina passed away on September 15, 2026. She passed peacefully from the world into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, and was reunited with the love of her life, Clyde Silver, whom she had been waiting to see again for a year and eight months. She and Clyde married on May 10, 1972 and spent almost 54 years together before God called him home in January, 2025.

She was the daughter of Robert King and Alda Burnette King Todd, both of whom preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her beloved siblings, Judie Thomas, Mike King and Harry King.

She was known for her talent of cooking and baking. Anyone that had a meal or a dessert coming from Terry’s kitchen knew they were in for a culinary delight. The gift of hospitality was definitely one of her many spiritual gifts. She worked at Black Mountain Center and Asheville Health Care as the activity director. However, in her later years, she worked at Spice it Up in Black Mountain and Flavors on Main in Marion and was known as the tea lady! She loved sharing her knowledge of hot teas with customers and they loved taking her advice!

One of her greatest joys was spending time as a volunteer at West Marion Elementary School in the classroom in which her granddaughter taught. She did this for the last five years of her life. She enjoyed being known as the students “grandteacher”.

Affectionately known as Gran Gran to many who knew her, those who loved her the most know exactly what that name meant to her and how she cherished her family. She is survived by her son, Lamar (Beth) Silver, her daughter, Beth (Marc) Anderson, grandchildren Kyle Silver, Brenna Stophel, Anna Silver, Samantha Anderson, Evan Anderson, Hayden Silver-McLeod, Holden Silver-McLeod, and Kinsley Anderson and her great grandchildren, Wyatt Silver, Layton Silver and Aubree Stophel. She is also survived by her beloved cousins known as the Tribe …Shelby Shelton, Mary Sue Katner, Darlene Hudson, Susie Burke, Pat Burnette, and April Andrews and her nieces Kay Hunter, Debra Pinner and Lee Hill and nephew Dale Gasperson. She is also survived by her faithful companion, Caroline, her miniature poodle.

Her grandson will be graduating from the US Navy RTC Bootcamp graduation in Chicago on Thursday, September 17, 2026. Therefore, a celebration of her life will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026, at Grace Community Church, Marion, NC, at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm. She will be interred at a private ceremony at the VA Cemetery with her beloved husband at a later date. The family would like to thank Kelli Banner, FNP, and the staff of Marion Medical Clinic as well as Medi Home Hospice for the care that they gave to Terry and the love they showed to us all.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to your favorite charity in her name or to your local animal shelter/organization.
