Terrance Douglas “Doug” Willis, originally of Spruce Pine, NC passed away on the evening of October 11, 2022 at the age of 66.
A long time resident of Marion, Doug is survived by Donna, his loving wife of 48 years. His daughter, Heather Foster of Marion; his daughter, Charity Webb (Daniel) of Marion; his son, Adam Willis (Amy) of Old Fort; and his son, Nathan Willis of Marion. Deanna Moody, who he thought of as a sister and her husband Larry of Madison, Virginia. In addition to his four children, his 12 grandchildren and his little chihuahua, Topher, are left to carry on his memory. The family would also like to recognize his lifelong football buddy, Ray Elliott.
Doug cherished his time with family. Playing board games or watching horror movies with his grandchildren were among his favorite pastimes. He loved scratch off lottery tickets, Pepsi, and a fresh pack of Marlboros. His passions included studying the American Civil War, visiting battlefields, and watching NFL football. As a rabid Dallas Cowboys fan, if you pulled for Washington, he’d still be your friend...but he’d think a little less of you. Doug will be remembered for being salty at the makers of Trivial Pursuit. He had been making up trivia games for years and felt they stole his thunder. He loved carp fishing, Gunsmoke, and Andy Griffith. The small things in life were the dearest to him.
The family has chosen to have a private celebration of Doug’s life at a later date.
