Tammy Lynn Simmons Whitson, 66, of Old Fort, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, October 06, 2026. While her family takes peace in knowing she is with the Lord, the life Tammy lived and the legacy she left will not be forgotten.

Tammy was a lifelong member of Old Fort First Baptist Church and lived every day of her life foChrist. She was a walking example of joy and could light up any room with her sense of humor. She was hard-working, full of gratitude and loved deeply. She is survived by the love of her life, Tony Ray Whitson, her devoted husband of 51 years. She will forever be cherished and deeply missed by her only daughter, Amy Whitson Miller, and Amy’s husband, Todd; her grandchildren, Taylor Miller Arrowood (Coleman), Zoe Miller Rumberg (Austin) and Matthew Todd (T.J.) Miller; great grandchildren, Brooks Matthew Arrowood, Bennett Bryan Arrowood, and Aria Lynn Rumberg; Brother-in-law, James Scoles along with a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Tammy’s greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Robert Whitson; her mother, Betty Jean Griggs Simmons; and her sister, Sandra Scoles.

Family and friends will have the opportunity to gather for visitation on October 12, 2026, from1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory, 2170 Rutherford Rd, Marion, NC 28752. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory. Rev. Drew Dalton will be officiating the service. Burial will take place at McDowell Memorial Park, 327 Memorial Park Rd, Marion, NC 28752.
