Tammy Jean Story Drake

Tammy Jean Story Drake, 62, of Morganton, passed away Monday, August 10, 2026 at her residence.

She was born in Guilford County, North Carolina on October 10, 1963 to Mary Elizabeth Smith Story and the late Robert Story.

Tammy was a woman of many interests. She was very creative and enjoyed making crafts and arranging beautiful flowers. She also loved fishing. Her family meant the most to her. Tammy cherished time spent with them. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her the most joy.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her son, Jonathan Drake.

Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Mary Smith Story; husband, Tyron Zane Drake; two daughters, Jennifer Drake and Jessica Drake; nine grandchildren, Tracy (Alec), Courtney (Brandon), Trevor (Steller), Kevin, Allison, John (Destiny), Cole, Brentley, and Katlyn; great-grandchildren, Alice, Lucy, Gauge, Kinsley, Ariyah, Levi, and Mason; and four brothers and sisters, Larry Story, Denise Pude (Dietmar), Teresa Hance (Jeff), and Bobby Story.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service. A memorial service will begin at 3:00 p.m.
