Susan Marie Locklear

Susan Marie Locklear, known affectionately as Susie, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, at Mission Hospital Asheville. Born on November 18, 1963, in Charleston, South Carolina, Susie’s life was marked by a profound love of travel, the simple joys of porch siting while gazing at the mountains, and a deep affection for her faithful canine companion, Ollie. She carried a generous spirit, always ready to help others wherever she could.

Susie was a good standing member of a 12 step program.

Susie is survived by her loving life companion, Ronnie Caldwell, who stood by her side with unwavering support. Her devotion to family shone brightly through her children, son Christopher Ray Locklear and daughter Amanda Marie Locklear, who were a source of endless pride and joy. She also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren, whose lives she greatly enriched with her love and guidance. Susan’s family circle includes her brothers, Michael Knapp and his wife Kim, and Harry Knapp, all of whom carry her memory in their hearts.

Susie was predeceased by her parents, Roger G. Knapp and Sally Waters Knapp, whose legacies she honored throughout her life.

Family, friends, and all who knew Susan are invited to pay their respects and celebrate her life at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory, located at 2170 Rutherford Rd, Marion, NC 28752. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service to honor Susan's life will take place at the same location on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at the Dunn Cemetery in Newport TN.

Susie's warmth, kindness, and zest for life left a lasting impression on all who were fortunate to know her. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, and her memory will forever be cherished.
