Sue Kelley Smith

Sue Kelley Smith, 74, of Dysartsville, was called Home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 27, 2023 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

A native of McDowell County, she was born April 21, 1949 to the late Albert Guy Kelley and Ruby Arrowood Kelley.

Sue held many different careers during her life, but she mostly enjoyed caring for her family. She enjoyed being outside in her beautiful yard and had a great faith in the Lord. She was involved with the Crossnore Children’s Home. She truly lived a beautiful and full life.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Melton Aubrey Smith; and two brothers, Albert “Babe” Kelley and Clifford Leon Kelley.

She is survived by her daughter, Daphney Carter (Joe Miller); her granddaughter, Danielle Widener (BR); two great grandsons, Brasen Ray Widener and Ethan Gray Widener; five siblings, Robert Kelley, David Hubert Kelley, Jean Engle (Ron), Patsy McClellan, and Kathy Bailey (Jolley); her special canine companion, Camo; and a large extended family that she loved.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 4, 2023 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory.
