Steven Edward Culbertson

Steven Edward Culbertson, affectionately known as Steve, passed away on June 29, 2025, at his residence. Born on August 1, 1951, in Rutherford County, he was a vibrant and passionate individual who truly loved life.

Steve was an avid golfer, spending countless hours on the course. He thrived in the competitive atmosphere of golf tournaments, where he celebrated many championships. His passion for the sport was only matched by his ability to bring friends together. Known fondly by his friends as "Fat Baby," he embraced a life of joy and camaraderie, often gathering at the campground on weekends where they would share music and laughter. Steve was consistently the life of the party, creating an environment of warmth and inclusion for all who knew him.

He leaves behind a loving family that will carry on his legacy. Steve is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Teresa Hammond Culbertson. He was a proud father to Jerry Culbertson and his companion Crystal Stofer, and sister, Cindy Burnette and her husband Randy. His grandchildren, Avary Culbertson and Kyle Hughes and his wife Sarah, brought him immense joy, as did his great granddaughters, Kimber Hughes and Karter Hughes.

Steve is preceded in death by his father, Carl Edward Culbertson, and his mother, Mary Marlowe Culbertson. He also mourned the loss of his brother, Gerald "Jerry" Culbertson.Visitation services will be held on July 2, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory, located at 2170 Rutherford Rd, Marion, NC 28752. Friends and family are encouraged to gather to honor and celebrate the life of this remarkable man who touched so many hearts.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
