Stephen Parker Boyd

Bakersville, North Carolina

Stephen Parker Boyd, age 78, died at his home, surrounded by his family, on January 19th, 2022.

A native of Mitchell County, he was the son of the late John E. Boyd and Ruth Parker Boyd. He was preceded in death by his brother, John E. Boyd, Jr (Judy).
At the age of eight, Stephen moved from Mitchell County with his family to Greensboro, NC. He spent two years at the Appalachian Boarding School at Penland, NC. That school building now houses the gallery for the Penland School of Crafts.
Stephen took special courses in watch repair, fine art painting and photography at the Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte where he received a special letter of accommodation from the college dean for his work in photography. He held a variety of employment positions in both Greensboro and Charlotte including a position of night guard at the Greensboro AT&T facility.
Stephen’s hobbies included photography, technical drawing and model building. He loved jazz music, shooting pool and was very interested in advanced engineering and UFO technology.
He was a devoted member of the Vian’s Valley Presbyterian Church at Loafer’s Glory, NC. Stephen was a man of great faith. When told of the seriousness of his condition, he simply said, “God is in control.”.
Stephen is survived by his sister, Florence Boyd Berryhill (Wayne), nephews, Everett Justus (Angie), Mark Justus, great nephew, Lance Justus (Maggie), great niece, Amanda Justus, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and treasured friends
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
