Shirley Ross Tilley Dyer

Shirley Ross Tilley Dyer, 87, of Marion, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on the morning of Friday, September 12, 2025.

She was born in Gordo, Alabama on August 29, 1938 to the late Olin Eugene Tilley and Emily Jewell Boothe Tilley.

Shirley was the matriarch of her family. She loved and cherished her family. Shirley was very crafty and enjoyed spending time working on various craft projects. Shirley often visited thrift stores and flea markets, always looking for new “pretties” or items to refurbish. She also liked collecting peacocks. She was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lee Dyer, and an infant son, Scott ONeil.

Those left to cherish her memory are three children, Sebrina Dyer (Shawn Crowe), Kent Dyer (Vicki), and Neil Dyer (Barbara); five grandchildren, Matthew Kirkland (Danielle), Natalie Crowe, Ryan Crowe, Jessica Kidd (Chad), and Brandon Dyer; one great-grandchild, Tytus Kidd; and one sister, Connie Duffy.

A graveside service will be held at McDowell Memorial Park on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Tony Cook officiating.
