Shirley Ann Cunningham

     Shirley Ann Cunningham, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on December 18, 2025, at Mission Hospital McDowell at the age of 88. Born on July 25, 1937, in McDowell County, 

     Shirley led a life marked by her incredible work ethic and caring spirit. As a devoted mother, Shirley is survived by her loving sons, Mickey Cunningham, Robert E. Cunningham Jr., and William Scott Cunningham. Her legacy continues through her five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride throughout her life. In addition to her unwavering dedication to her family, Shirley was known for her enjoyment of cooking and crocheting, activities that allowed her to share her warmth and creativity with those around her. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, William Ray McCormick and Lula Davis McCormick; one daughter Marsh Cunningham and one son Mark Allen Cunningham.
