Shirley Anne Lytle Childers

     Shirley Anne Lytle Childers, 82, of Nebo, entered her heavenly home on Monday, December 11, 2023.

     Shirley was born in McDowell County, NC, on July 13, 1941, to the late Allie Young Lytle and Annie Sue Wilson Lytle. She graduated from Glenwood High School with the Class of 1959. Shirley married her high school sweetheart and husband of 49 years, Harold Wayne Childers, who passed away in 2009.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Nebo, where she was very active. She sang in the church choir and could always be found in the fellowship hall helping with church dinners, Awana, and the Lunch Bunch. She retired from Coats American after more than forty years of dedicated service. Shirley loved to cook for her family and friends, and was known for her cakes. She made many fond memories with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom were the light of her life. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

     In addition to her husband and parents, Shirley was preceded in death by five sisters, Gertrude Walker, Ruby Autrey, Frances Pentuff, Jean Jenkins, and Helen Groner; three brothers, Clarence Lytle, Earl Lytle, and Tommy Lytle; and a special nephew, Doyle Lytle.

     Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Janet Childers Onieal and Teresa Childers Wall (David); three grandchildren, Allie Wall, Zack Wall, and Murphy Onieal; four great grandchildren, Lex Webb, Clark Webb, Maddox Wall, and Lillie Berlin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

     A funeral will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 15, 2023, at the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Pastor Doug Worley will officiate. Burial will follow at the First Baptist Church of Nebo Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
