Sherri Lee Owenby

Sherri Lee Walker Owenby, age 70, of Marion, North Carolina, made that wonderful cross over into Heaven at 12:03 a.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Carolinas HealthCare System-Blue Ridge in Morganton, North Carolina.  The daughter of the late Carl and Jetta Webb Walker, she was born in McDowell County, North Carolina on March 05, 1951. 

For over 40 years, Ms. Sherri proudly worked in McDowell County in Early Childhood Education and was past president of the McDowell Hospital Auxiliary.  She was once recognized as citizen of the year in Marion.  Sherri enjoyed reading, sewing and music, she was a fan of Neal Diamond.  Most of all, it done her heart good spending time with her family. 

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Mike Owenby; one son, Chris Owenby; one daughter, Leslie Owenby McPeters; two grandchildren, Macy McPeters and Adam Owenby.  Sherri is also survived by her three siblings, April Hollifield (Mike), Robin Walker and Sy Walker (Kimberly); and a number of nieces.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Doug Prevette officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
