Sharon Elaine Kirkland

Sharon Elaine Kirkland, 66, of Granite Falls, passed away Friday, January 2, 2026 at her residence.

A native of McDowell County, she was born January 16, 1959 to the late Albert Kirkland and Judy Harklerode Phillips.

Sharon's educational journey was marked by her remarkable talent in tennis, which earned her a scholarship to attend college. She was well-known for her vibrant enthusiasm, particularly as a devoted fan of the Indianapolis Colts.

In addition to her many interests, Sharon found great joy in baking. Her warmth and kindness were felt by everyone who knew her, and she dedicated herself to creating beautiful memories with her loved ones. Known as the family photographer, Sharon enjoyed capturing special moments spent with family. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.

She is survived by three daughters, Anna Byrd (Chris), Sarah Ballew (Josh), and Rebecca Woodby; six grandchildren, Caden Byrd, Brooklyn Woodby, Brittany Woodby, Jared Byrd, Alexis Woodby, and Cameron English; one great-grandchild, Taysum Cash; and her brother, David Kirkland.

In accordance with her wishes, no services are planned.
