Sandra Hayworth Mitchell

Sandra Hayworth Mitchell, 78, of Marion, passed away at her residence on Sunday, June 28, 2026.

She was born in High Point, North Carolina on March 23, 1948 to the late John Harold Hayworth and Grace Darlin Crooks Hayworth.

Sandra enjoyed visiting antique stores and thrift shops. She was also an avid reader. Sandra spent countless hours volunteering with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and Hospice. She had a true servant’s heart. Together with her husband, they formerly owned and operated Balsam Bed and Breakfast. She loved the Balsam Community and time spent there was very special to her.

She is survived by her husband, Kent Mitchell; three children, Claudia Cole Dancoff, John Wesley Cole (Tonya), and Nicholai Mitchell (June); three grandchildren, Ashley Parks (Derek), Heath Cole, and Jordan Cole (Allie); two great-grandchildren, Andrea Parks and Madison Parks; one sister, Ann Hayworth Schaker (Mitch); and one brother, John Hayworth (Dottie).

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
