Sandra Goforth Merola

     Sandra Goforth Merola, 77, of Mooresville, NC, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord.

     Sandra was born in Mitchell County, NC, on May 9, 1948, to the late Earsel Smith and Gladys Buchanan Smith. She was married to the late Joseph Merola, who passed away in 2023. Sandra was a member of West Court Baptist Church in Marion. She loved the Lord and loved playing hymns on her piano. She was a dedicated weaver at Marion Manufacturing and Galey & Lord for most of her life, while winning golf and bowling trophies in between. She enjoyed playing bingo, watching movies, and playing games on her computer. Sandra was known to be the life of the party and had a giving heart. She would always put the needs of others before her own. Most of all, Sandra loved her family and friends, with whom she enjoyed spending time. She will be deeply missed.

     In addition to her husband and parents, Sandra was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Smith; and two grandsons, Bradley Martin and Brandon Sanders.

     Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Amy Martin-Spencer & husband Brandon; a son, Roger Ferguson, Jr. & wife Missy; two sisters, Joann Todd & husband Tom and Shelby Sigmon & husband Ray; five grandchildren, Taylor Sanders, Alex Sanders, Ashley Lewis, Trey Ferguson, and Emily Sanders; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and one very special niece, Deana Messer & husband Dean.

     A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Rev. Daniel McMahan will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
