Ruth Marie Hood Johnson

 

Ruth was born in April 1929 in Edgefield, SC. She married Ralph Johnson in 1947. The family business moved them from Edgefield, SC to Jacksonville, FL; Toccoa, GA; and ultimately back to Edgefield. Ruth was the President of her Garden Club in Jacksonville, and a member of Pine Ridge Country Club in Edgefield where she was a founding member of the bridge club. Ruth was a lover of the Lowcountry throughout her life, and enjoyed spending family summers in Edisto and at their home in Beaufort, SC. 

 

Ruth was predeceased by her parents, David Thomas and Marie Hood; her husband Ralph Stanley Johnson; and their two children, R. Stanley Johnson and Jenny Johnson Lotterhos. Ruth is survived by her beloved grandson, John Stanley Lotterhos of Greenville, SC. 

 

The extended Hood and Johnson families will celebrate Ruth's life privately, as she wished. Many thanks to the staff at Autumn Care of Marion, NC for caring for Ruth in her final days.
