Russell Alexander Hollifield

Russell Alexander Hollifield, 76, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024. Alex was born on May 9, 1947 in McDowell County to the late Jamie McCall Hollifield and Russell Greed Hollifield.

He worked as a Mechanical Designer at various industries in the Asheville area. Alex had many interests. He loved Blue Grass and old-time mountain music. He also enjoyed reading, Formula 1 Racing and many outdoor activities until his health prevented him from doing so.

Surviving Alex are his wife of fifty-five years, Catherine Buckner Hollifield; two children, Hilary Hollifield and Brent Hollifield; two sisters Janice Shuford (Mickey) and Virginia Siler (Chuck).

A funeral service for Alex will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Beam Funeral Service with the Rev. J.B. Cope officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 2:00 until 3:00 pm. Burial will follow at Turkey Cove Baptist Church Cemetery.
