Ruby Mae Turner Hall

Ruby Mae Turner Hall, God's precious jewel, age 98, of Marion, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022 at the Solace Center in Asheville, North Carolina.

Ruby was born on May 24, 1924 in McDowell County to the late Olis Dillard Turner and the late Bessie Mae Farr Turner. She worked at East Marion Manufacturing but later retired from East McDowell Middle School Cafeteria. Ruby was a lifelong, devoted member of East Marion Baptist Church. She was very involved in the woman's WMU, loved singing in the choir, and was known for her cakes and chicken and dumplings at church gatherings. She loved reading her daily devotional and reading her Bible. Ruby enjoyed spending time with her family where she was known as "Waw Waw" and "Aunt Ruby." She spoiled her family with her yummy homemade biscuits and blackberry jelly. She loved telling stories and jokes. Ruby loved shopping, especially for shoes and pocketbooks, and doing her daily crossword puzzles. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she always made sure everyone had a gift to enjoy. She loved taking trips to the beach and having family cookouts in her backyard.

Along with her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Sam Hall Sr.; a son Sammy Hall Jr. and two brothers, Earl Turner and Kenneth Turner.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sister Marie Robinson; two grandchildren, Jeff Hall III (Carmen) and Paige Randall (Darren); five great grandchildren, Jessica Worthy (Andrew), Kayli Randall, Samantha Randall (Matt), Lindsay Lawing (Jacob) and Dallas Randall; three great-great grandchildren, Witten Wynings, Laityn Lewis, Juniper Lawing and two on the way, Elizabeth Leigh Worthy and baby J. Lawing; daughter-in-law, Jane Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at East Marion Baptist Church at 11:00 am. Officiating the service will be Rev. Andrew Walker, Rev. Doug Worley and Clif Turner. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the church. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shriners Children Hospital at 950 W Faris Rd., Greenville, S.C. 29605, East Marion Baptist Church at 660 Baldwin Ave., Marion, N.C. 28752, or the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering at www.imb.org.

Ruby was a favorite to everyone. Her smile was infectious and her love of family and friends was obvious when you were with her. We love her and will miss her (although we didn't see her as often as we wish) but we know she is in her happy place seeing those she loved so much.
