Rose Marie Huskins Dale

Rose Marie Huskins Dale was born on January 5, 1933, to the late Virgil Huskins and Lula Morgan Huskins. She passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, kindness, and beautiful memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

Marie married the love of her life, Sanford William Dale, on December 3, 1952. Sanford preceded her in death.

Marie was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, homemaker, and Christian. She was the proud mother of four children: the late Mark Edward Dale, and her surviving children, Brenda Fillingham, Tommy Dale, and Jane Propst (Mark).

She leaves behind seven grandchildren: Jonathan Fillingham (Alison), Drew Fillingham (Kim), Jordan Fillingham (Reshea), Matthew Amerto (Beth), Avery Amerto (Taylor), Emma Dale, and Will Dale; as well as five great-grandchildren, who brought her great joy.

She is also survived by her brothers, Roy Huskins (Hazel) and Ray Huskins (Norma); and her sisters, Jean Gouge and Barbara Gurley.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Lula Huskins; her husband, Sanford William Dale; her son, Mark Edward Dale; her brothers, Albert Huskins, Herman Huskins, Larry Huskins, and Gary Huskins; and her sister, Arbula Huskins.

Marie was a longtime member of Old Fort Freewill Baptist Church. Her Christian faith was not simply something she spoke about—it was the way she lived her life. She was a beautiful example of a Christian woman who loved Jesus and loved everyone around her. She read her Bible faithfully and wanted nothing more than for those she loved to know Jesus and meet her again in Heaven.

Marie had a quiet and gentle nature, but her beautiful smile spoke volumes. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome and loved. She always thought of others before herself and believed that everyone who came through her door should have something to eat and drink. Her home was a place of warmth, comfort, and hospitality.

A homemaker by heart, Marie, found joy in caring for her family. She loved to cook and was especially known for making homemade apple pies and apple butter. She loved preserving and canning food, especially green beans. She loved to sew and make quilts, putting time, patience, and love into each one.

Marie wanted to make sure everyone was warm and fed. She cared deeply for the people around her and found happiness in providing for others. She took great pride in keeping her home clean, her yard mowed, and her beautiful ferns growing. These simple things reflected the care and love she put into everything she did.

Marie’s life was a quiet testimony to the love of Christ. She did not need to be the center of attention. Her kindness, her generosity, her faithful heart, and that beautiful smile was enough to leave a lasting impression.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, church family, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though her absence leaves an emptiness that cannot be filled, her family finds comfort in knowing that Marie loved Jesus, lived her faith, and is now resting in the presence of the Savior she loved so dearly.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Old Fort Freewill Baptist Church, at 2:00 pm, with Reverends Johnny Chastain, Lattie Slagle, Avery Amerto and Mr. Jonathan Fillingham officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm at the church. Interment will follow at Pete Young Cemetery in Burnsville, North Carolina, with Pastor Heath Ogle officiating.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of The McDowell Hospital, CarePartners Asheville, and Four Seasons Hendersonville for the compassionate care and kindness shown during this time. Their dedication and support will always be remembered with gratitude.
