Ronnie Gene Ruff

Ronnie Gene Ruff, 77, of Marion, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

A native of McDowell County, he was born October 29, 1948 to the late James Vestal Ruff. Ronnie retired from the Department of Transportation. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served honorably in Vietnam. An avid pool player, Ronnie was a shark. He was also a skilled carpenter and enjoyed roller skating. He lettered in wrestling and was also a good catcher in little league.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his son, James Ricky Ruff;one daughter, Vicky Ruff; and his brother, Ervin Ruff.

Survivors include one daughter, Kathy Ruff Hollifield (Riley); six grandchildren, Brandon Justice (Judith), Porsha Justice (John), Amber Blake (Levi), Jamie Lewis (Brooke), Riley Hollifield, III (Kelsey), and Ashley Ruff; and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving Ronnie is the love of his life, Jeanie Proctor.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 5, 2026 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Following the service, Ronnie will be laid to rest at McDowell Memorial Park.
