Robey Harold Gibbs

Robey Harold Gibbs, 89, of Marion, passed away at UNC Health Blue Ridge on Thursday, December 14, 2023.

He was born in McDowell County on June 29, 1934 to the late Dock and Pearl Reel Gibbs.

Mr. Gibbs was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was employed for 49 years at Etta Packaging, which is now West Rock. He was known by all as a hard-working man who provided well for his family.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Margie Lucille Williams Gibbs; and two siblings, Ray Gibbs and Ruby Byrd.

He is survived by two sons, Joel Gibbs and Chris Gibbs; one grandchild, Audra Gibbs; and one sister, Ruth Gibbs Nanney.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church on Shady Lane. Dr. Eric Grindstaff will officiate the service. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service at the church.
