Robert Clifton Swafford

Robert Clifton Swafford, 54, of Lake Lure, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020 at his residence.

A native of McDowell County, he was born on September 10, 1966 to the late Somey and Charlotte Wright Swafford.

He was also known as being a “warehouse of useless knowledge.” Robert proudly served in the United States Air Force as a data analyst. Most of all, he truly loved his Lord.

In addition to his parents, he is greeted in heaven by two children, Sidney and Tomas; and two brothers, Jeff and Ronnie Swafford.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Melanie Deville Swafford; a sister, Cathy Blake and husband Larry; a sister-in-law, Donna Swafford; a sister, April Seaman; a brother, Alan Swafford; and a sister, Amy Parker and husband Josh; special in-laws, Georgia Johnson, Dannette Barros and husband Dalmo, and Neil Deville; brothers by heart, Ben Deas, Shane Coore, Chris Jenkins, Ernest Scott, and Josh Carpenter; nieces and nephews, Scott, Chris, Jodie, Larry, Casey, Richie, Bryant, Jessica, Logan, Jordan, Timmy, Jacob, Mariana, Renata, Luciana, Gabriela, Andre, Anna Marie, Tiler; numerous great nieces and nephews; and their two special fur babies, Ella and Luna.

Without doubt one of the strongest people I had the privilege of knowing. He loved big, and he stood firm on his beliefs. He loved his family and was a man of wisdom. Most of all Robert loved the Lord and it showed in his compassion for others. Even when he was losing a hard fought battle with cancer he never failed to comment on a request that he was praying with me. He will he missed. Fly High Sweet Robert, gone but NEVER FORGOTTEN!

I will always remember him cooking crawfish on the porch, playing Cajun music and dancing. He was doing what he loved. He fought a good fight.

You two were the first 2 I met after moving here. I loved talking with him and our love for music. I didnt know him long but will never forget him. He was a great man.
