Robert “Bob” Gordon Jarrett, Jr., 90, of Marion, passed away Friday, October 9, 2026, at his residence.
Bob was born in McDowell County, NC on December 20, 1935, to the late Robert Gordon Jarrett, Sr. and Zilpah Throneburgh Jarrett. Bob served his country proudly with the United States Army, as an MP, in post WWII Germany. In 1961, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State Teachers College, now known as Appalachian State University, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marion. He was an enthusiast of music, especially gospel music, and enjoyed playing the piano. Bob loved to travel throughout North Carolina and loved spending time at the beach during the summer. Most of all, he was as devoted husband and father who will always be loved and remembered.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 59 years, Judy G. Jarrett; and his son, Robert G. Jarrett, III.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at First United Methodist Church in Marion. Rev. Emily Robbian will officiate and Rev. Philip Tate will assist. A private family burial service will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to neighbors who assisted Bob during his time of need; and to the dedicated staff of CarePartners Home Health and Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Memorial contributions may be made to CarePartners Home Health; Hospice of the Carolina Foothills; or the First United Methodist Church in Marion.
